PMMPGP

WARNING:
This is an alpha release!
It is released for testing purposes only!
Do not rely on it if something depends on it!!!

Okay, enough warnings: pmmpgp is an GnuPG command line wrapper for use with PMMail/2. It allows PMMail/2 to be used in conjunction with GnuPG to sign, encrypt, decrypt and verify messages. pmmpgp acts as a command line wrapper which basically means that it translates PGP calls from PMMail into a valid GPG command line and returns the output in a format suitable for PMMail.

Please read the included README file for details and installation instructions. Remember that this is an alpha release and that there is no guarantee that it will work.

A caveat that is not in the README: if you have used PMMail/2 with PGP 5 please make sure that there is no pgpk.exe in the same directory as pmmpgp's pgp.exe. Otherwise PMMail will make the wrong assumption that pmmpgp's pgp.exe is PGP version 5 and will use PGP5 command line syntax, which is not supported.

A note for non-english users

There is a bug in PMMail/2 that prevents mails with special characters (for example: ä,ö,...) from being treated correctly in the prcess of sending. The problem is that these mails are converted to quoted-printable encoding after having been encrypted. Every ASCII-armored mail contains at least one "=" in the last line that gets converted to "=3D". This means that the mail has been modified after the encryption and therefore the decryption fails with a CRC checksum error. (Many thanks to Jochen Kleinbauer for pointing that out).

As this apparently is a PMMail/2 bug that also occurs with plain PGP 2.x, pmmpgp can do little against it. However, Dirk Doerr has contributed PMConv, a small program that fixes PMMail's errors before sending. Installation is simple: unzip the archive to some directory and configure "pmconv8.exe" in the account settings on the REXX page as the "Message Send Exit" filter.

Licence and other legal things

pmmpgp is released under the BSD licence.

PMMail/2 is copyrighted by and probably a trademark of Blueprint Software Works, Inc.
